Maybe kindness starts right here?

I’ve been dreaming up a simple way to spread more light in the world — one small coin at a time.

Coins for Kindness is a project that would let you pass along encouragement, say thanks, or brighten someone’s day in a way that keeps traveling. Imagine coins designed to thank public servants, offer hope to someone carrying a heavy load, or simply remind a stranger they matter. Each coin could pass from hand to hand, building its own story along the way.

I’d love to know if you think this is worth doing

HOW IT WOULD WORK

Here’s the simple idea:

  • You’d get a handful of kindness coins — each one carrying a small message.

  • The next time someone makes your day, or you spot someone who could use a lift, you pass a coin along.

  • Or tuck it somewhere for a stranger to find - on a park bench, on a library book, or by a coffee shop register.

  • That person can keep it or pay it forward to someone else.

  • Each coin builds its own story, traveling from hand to hand — with tiny moments of kindness piling up wherever they go.

  • Along the way people will be directed to a dedicated website to share and read stories of kindness and see where the coins have traveled.

  • The dedicated website could include maps, badges, and playful ways to see how far a little kindness travels.

It’s old-fashioned. It’s simple. And maybe it’s exactly the kind of thing the world needs more of.

COULD YOU SEE YOURSELF BEING PART OF THIS?

I’d really love your thoughts. Would you hand out coins like this? Hide them for strangers? Become a Kindness Ambassador? Or spend time on the website reading stories of kindness?
